Ventura High girls volleyball coach Debbie Litten couldn’t turn down the opportunity.

After a team dropped out of Oxnard High’s Fifth Annual Summer Invitational Volleyball Tournament, there was a spot open and Oxnard head coach Pat Casey wondered if she would be interested.

Ventura already had a full week of games scheduled, and its roster was shorthanded. But Litten still didn’t hesitate to accept.

“Of course I was going to take it,” she said. “The competition you get in that tournament is great and it really helps you get a chance to see where you are vulnerable and what the main focus will be to work on before the season starts.”
