TRIPLE JUMP

Black broke the 25-year-old county record in the triple jump with a leap of 39 feet, 5 inches at the Arcadia Invitational in April. The previous record was held by Sharon Manship of Thousand Oaks (39-0, 1987). The 5-foot-11, 136-pound senior has a track scholarship to the University of Sioux Falls. Black was second in the triple jump (37-9½) and second in the long jump (18-0) at the Ventura County Championships, second in the triple jump (38-2½) and sixth in the long jump (17-10½) at the CIF-Southern Section Division 1 finals. Black enjoys dancing, swimming and playing Wii. She likes watching “Teen Wolf” and “The Lion King,” eating seafood and listening to Beyonce. Usain Bolt is her favorite athlete and the Orlando Magic her favorite team.
