If injuries cut short Matthew Merricks’ quest to become a major league pitcher, it didn’t end his passion.
Or his love for the game. Or his knowledge.
So, accordingly, Merricks’ newest drive is to help young pitchers realize their own dreams.
The former Oxnard High star left-hander and sixth-round choice of the Atlanta Braves in 2000 is helping out as the pitching coach at Channel Islands High.
