The boys are back in town.
Following tonight’s Rio Mesa High varsity football game at home against Pacifica, the Spartans’ 1971 CIF Division A championship team is planning a celebration at Wood Ranch BBQ & Grill in Camarillo.
Then, on Saturday, the school will host a barbecue for the ’71 champs from noon until 5 p.m. at the RMHS quad. Tickets are $15.
Nearly 40 years ago, Rio Mesa defeated Paso Robles 28-20 in Oxnard to secure the CIF crown.
Tonight’s Pacifica-Rio Mesa clash kicks off at 7 p.m.
