Network Etiquette in the OHS Library
It is our intent to make Internet access available to further educational
goals and to support valid classroom purposes. Student use of the Internet shall not interfere with the timely performance of school duties. Individual users of the
library computer network are expected to abide by the District's
Acceptable Use Policy and the generally accepted rules of network
etiquette:
- I will use school computers for
research and classroom assignments.
- I will not use a computer to harm other
people; I will always use a computers in ways that insure consideration and
respect for others.
- I will not interfere with other
people's computer work.
- I will not snoop around in other
people's computer files.
- I will not use a computer to steal.
- I will not use a computer to slander,
degrade, insult or harass another person.
- I will will not copy or use software
for which I have not paid.
- I will not use school computer
resources without proper authorization.
- I will not intentionally waste limited
resources.
- I will not steal data, equipment or
other's ideas. Plagiarism or infringing copyrights of works I find is
unethical.
- I will not cause undue congestion of
the school network by downloading long files, accessing chat lines, or
saving executable files on school servers.
