SPECIAL EDUCATION

About Special Education

The Oxnard Union High School District serves approximately 1,700 students with special needs through a variety of programs. These programs are, for the most part, offered at the students’ neighborhood schools.

Standards Based Education

Students who are eligible for special education services in California Public Schools are required to meet the same standards for graduation as their peers.

Students on an alternative curriculum will receive a Certificate of Achievement.

Curriculum and Instructional Settings

The Special Education curriculum frameworks are, in most cases, identical to the Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Science frameworks for all OUHSD students. The same textbooks are made available to the students. When appropriate, supplemental texts are used.
